Arjun Kapoor shines as host at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025

The 2025 News18 Showsha Reel Awards unfolded in Mumbai on March 20, showcasing cinematic excellence and celebrating talented individuals in the film industry. Arjun Kapoor took the reins as the host for the evening, captivating attendees with his blend of humor and charisma, ensuring an engaging experience for both the celebrities and the audience.

During the event, Kapoor’s playful jokes struck a chord, even prompting a standing ovation from fellow actor Abhishek Bachchan. Reflecting on the night, he shared moments from the ceremony on social media, humorously mentioning how his “bad jokes” resonated with those present, leading to unexpected applause.

In one of his Instagram updates, Kapoor expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “Lights. Camera. And a few Bad Jokes. Loved being back on stage, hosting the #ShowshaReelAwards — where the stars shine, and my punchlines received a standing ovation! Big cheers to all the winners—your talent is unreal! And a special thank you to the audience. You all are the real MVPs!” A particular highlight came when Kapoor interacted with Riteish Deshmukh, who was awarded Best Comic Role. He delivered a quirky joke about a girl named Kiran balancing two jobs, which showcased his knack for humor.

As Riteish struggled to guess the punchline, Kapoor revealed, “Wo gaana gaayega- Tu hawker, ya naukar, tu hai meri Kiran. Beat that! It’s tough, but try.” This moment drew a positive reaction from Abhishek Bachchan, who rose from his chair to applaud the joke with a slow clap, demonstrating the lighthearted spirit of the event.

Further solidifying their camaraderie, Abhishek later gave Kapoor a standing ovation, prompting a light-hearted response from the host: “See, I got a standing ovation! Before Singham, I had forgotten what that looked like, so thank you, Abhishek.”

His hosting prowess did not go unnoticed by family, as actress Janhvi Kapoor commented on his post, calling him “the most wholesome, genuine and fun host ever.”

A notable highlight of the awards was Abhishek Bachchan’s achievement of Best Actor (Jury) for his outstanding performance in *I Want To Talk*, while Arjun Kapoor himself was honored for his compelling portrayal in *Singham Again*, winning the award for Best Performance in a Negative Role.
