The 2025 News18 Showsha Reel Awards unfolded in Mumbai on March 20, showcasing cinematic excellence and celebrating talented individuals in the film industry. During the event, Kapoor’s playful jokes struck a chord, even prompting a standing ovation from fellow actor Abhishek Bachchan. And a special thank you to the audience. You all are the real MVPs!” A particular highlight came when Kapoor interacted with Riteish Deshmukh, who was awarded Best Comic Role. He delivered a quirky joke about a girl named Kiran balancing two jobs, which showcased his knack for humor.
As Riteish struggled to guess the punchline, Kapoor revealed, “Wo gaana gaayega- Tu hawker, ya naukar, tu hai meri Kiran. Beat that! It’s tough, but try.” This moment drew a positive reaction from Abhishek Bachchan, who rose from his chair to applaud the joke with a slow clap, demonstrating the lighthearted spirit of the event.
Further solidifying their camaraderie, Abhishek later gave Kapoor a standing ovation, prompting a light-hearted response from the host: “See, I got a standing ovation! Before Singham, I had forgotten what that looked like, so thank you, Abhishek.”
