Artem Chigvintsev Seeks Restraining Order Against Nikki Garcia
Artem Chigvintsev has filed for a restraining order against Nikki Garcia in response to her own recent legal actions against him.
Following the issuance of Garcia’s restraining order, which was approved by a judge, Chigvintsev’s counter-request was likewise granted. Both individuals have presented conflicting accounts regarding the series of events that transpired on the day leading to Chigvintsev’s arrest.
In documentation sourced from TMZ, Garcia alleged that Chigvintsev “tackled me multiple times and pinned me to the ground while our child was present.” This confrontation reportedly began over a small dispute concerning the preparation of their son Matteo’s English muffin.
Garcia acknowledged throwing a shoe at Chigvintsev, after which he took their son upstairs in an attempt to deescalate the situation. Garcia claimed that when she attempted to enter the bedroom, Chigvintsev physically restrained her, holding her on the ground for what she described as a distressing duration of 20 to 30 seconds. She further accused him of pressing down on her chest, which made her feel as if she were suffocating, prompting her to try to defend herself.
Chigvintsev’s account, as reported by People magazine, portrayed a different scenario. He recounted that their son began to cry as Garcia attempted to force her way into the bedroom, expressing concern over Matteo witnessing a conflict between his parents. Chigvintsev claimed he pleaded with Garcia to stop and calm down, describing the altercation as a mutual struggle that resulted in both parties ending up on the ground. He expressed fear regarding the situation and felt that assistance was needed to alleviate the conflict.
Amidst this tumult, Chigvintsev contacted emergency services, indicating that Garcia was verbally abusive during the call. He supplemented his claim with photographic evidence of injuries to his elbow, finger, and neck, maintaining that Garcia’s allegations were “absolutely false.”
Statements from both parties have been made through their representatives amidst the ongoing legal proceedings. Garcia’s representative emphasized that the restraining order was necessary for the protection of both Nikki and their son, asserting that despite her initial hesitance to see criminal charges filed against Chigvintsev, accountability was essential.
Chigvintsev’s attorney, Ilona Antonyan, highlighted the need to evaluate the context of Chigvintsev’s actions, noting his report to law enforcement on the day of the incident as an effort to safeguard himself from Garcia’s aggressive behavior. Antonyan claimed that Chigvintsev’s reputation and career were significantly harmed due to the allegations made against him, insisting he was not the primary aggressor.
As stipulated by the restraining order, Chigvintsev is required to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Garcia and Matteo. He is permitted to approach only during scheduled visitation or custody exchanges.
The temporary custody arrangement states that both parents will share equal physical custody of Matteo. Chigvintsev is set to care for Matteo from October 4-12 while Garcia has work commitments in London. Following that period, custody will alternate every three days.
