On October 14, popular Twitch streamer Asmongold faced backlash following remarks he made about the ongoing conflict in Palestine during one of his live streams. This incident has highlighted the intersection of gaming culture and social commentary, sparking discussions among fans and viewers.
Recently, Asmongold’s alternate Twitch account, ZackRawrr, achieved partnership status, leading to a surge in subscriptions. Following the official launch of his second channel in connection with the launch of Path of Exile 2 on December 6, fans eagerly flocked to support him, resulting in over 10,000 new subscribers within mere minutes.
In reaction to the flood of subscribers, Asmongold expressed his astonishment, saying, “Oh my god, I can’t read the chat. Over 10,000 subs now, over 10,000 in ten minutes. It’s a good day to be me right now, it really is.” His lighthearted acknowledgement of the moment contrasted sharply with the previous controversy surrounding his public statements.
Why was Asmongold’s second Twitch channel not partnered?
The anticipation for ZackRawrr’s partnership was notable, particularly after Asmongold had voiced concerns about Twitch’s financial investment in his channel prior to its monetization. He speculated in July that Twitch could be losing upwards of $1 million each month on hosting his content without profit from ads.
In his discussions, he stated: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Twitch is spending over $1M a month hosting this channel and they’re not happy about it. If there’s gonna be ads, I’m gonna get f**king paid for it.” His candid comments illustrate the complexities of content creation on platforms like Twitch, where monetization can become a contentious issue.
While ZackRawrr had previously garnered significant attention, the channel officially attained partnership status during the stream centered around the Path of Exile 2 release, marking a major milestone for Asmongold.
In contrast, Asmongold’s main channel, which goes by his name, boasts over 3.6 million followers—significantly more than the 2 million fans ZackRawrr enjoys. This showcases his substantial influence across the streaming platform.
In a humorous twist, on the same day as the channel’s partnership news, Asmongold shared personal insights about his lifestyle, revealing his unusual laundry habits, which included not washing his clothes for six years and opting instead to purchase new garments.
