Astro Bot Claims Top Honor at the 2025 New York Game Awards

Team Asobi’s Astro Bot has recently achieved recognition at the New York Game Awards, enhancing its accolades following a previous win at The Game Awards. On January 21, during the gala, the adventure-platformer captured the prestigious Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year. In addition to this, it also secured the Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game and the Central Park Children’s Zoo Award for Best Kids Game.

The ceremony featured a variety of other notable winners. Noteworthy titles such as Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, UFO 50, and Metaphor: ReFantazio were among the highlights of the evening. The indie horror sensation Mouthwashing was recognized with the Hidden Gem Award, while Silent Hill 2 was honored as the Best Remake. Furthermore, Troy Baker earned the Best Acting Award for his performance in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, marking a significant achievement for the game since its December release.

Additionally, the New York Video Game Critics Circle presented Sam Lake with the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, acknowledging his influential contributions at Remedy Entertainment across its interconnected game franchises. Ryan O’Callaghan, executive director of the NYVGCC, remarked on Lake’s ability to create a sequel that not only resonates deeply with fans a decade later but also enriches a broader universe of games. Lake recently engaged with NYVGCC students and interns, offering insights into his creative process and the dedication involved in video game development.
