Elon Musk is recognized for having at least 14 children, but there are indications that the actual figure may be significantly higher. This was highlighted by Elizabeth Bruenig of The Atlantic during her conversation with Alisyn Camerota and Dave Briggs on the “Sanity” podcast, where she stated in a discussion aired on Friday.
“It’s widely accepted that he has 14 known children, yet insights from individuals who contributed to a Wall Street Journal investigation into his parental patterns suggest the reality could be quite different,” Bruenig shared. “Some sources even speculate that the number could be 100 or more.” Bruenig is the author of the article titled “The Harem of Elon Musk.”
“While that number might astonish some, I believe it to be an underestimation,” Bruenig elaborated. “As of now, there’s documentation of four women he has fathered children with. There might be a fifth, possibly Ashley St. Clair, but I believe the count remains at four.”
In response, Camerota interjected, noting the lack of transparency around Musk’s extended family life stems from legal measures he employs. “The reason we don’t have a complete picture of all these children and their mothers is because he has them sign non-disclosure agreements,” she explained, adding that Musk is known to be highly litigious and often pursues legal action if any parties breach their silence. “He compensates the mothers significantly to maintain their discretion.”
Bruenig revealed that St. Clair was reportedly compensated with $15 million and a monthly stipend of $100,000 to keep the details surrounding the birth of their child undisclosed.
As the discussion progressed, Camerota raised a thought-provoking question regarding how Musk’s family dynamics align with the Republican Party’s proclaimed “family values.” She pointed out, “There’s something notably dystopian, even dark, about this situation. It presents a paradox, particularly given that Republicans traditionally promote family values.”
“How does this align with family values? He neglects to acknowledge some of his offspring and refuses to appear on certain birth certificates. Additionally, he resorts to financial settlements with the mothers and has legal confrontations with them. He is also estranged from his daughter, Vivian, which conflicts sharply with any conventional understanding of family values,” she remarked.
Bruenig offered her perspective, suggesting that Musk’s actions indicate he is not pursuing traditional familial structures or partnerships but rather has a different vision altogether.
“Musk has frequently expressed his concern about declining birth rates and their implications for the future of humanity,” she mentioned. “He is particularly interested in encouraging intelligent individuals to procreate.”
Musk shares several children with his former wife, Justine Wilson, including their late son Nevada, who passed away at 10 weeks old, along with twins Vivian and Griffin, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian. Following their divorce in 2008, Musk had a fleeting marriage with Talulah Riley and subsequently welcomed three children with Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes: son X Æ A-12, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus.
Additionally, Musk has at least four children—twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia, and son Seldon Lycurgus—with Shivon Zilis, who is an executive at Neuralink. In February 2025, conservative figure Ashley St. Clair disclosed that she and Musk had welcomed a son, later named Romulus.
St. Clair also expressed that Musk has had minimal involvement in their child’s life.
