Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are set to star in the upcoming horror-comedy film titled Thama. The project was officially announced on October 30, and recent reports indicate that the lead actors, along with veteran actor Paresh Rawal, have begun shooting the film. According to Mid-Day, the cast commenced filming introductory scenes on December 12.

The report from Mid-Day mentions that the actors initiated a night schedule for filming at Chitra Studio. Here, a set has been specifically designed to depict the character played by Rawal, showcasing a Delhi home. The filming schedule at this location is expected to continue until December 23, after which the crew will take a break for the New Year.

In January, the production team is expected to regroup in Delhi for a comprehensive shooting schedule. The unit plans to film in the capital for about a month before moving on to Ooty in February. Notably, renowned actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will join the cast during the Ooty shoots, where scenes are planned to be filmed in the surrounding forests. This particular setting is significant as it aligns with the storyline where Siddiqui’s character is depicted as residing in the jungle. Costume designer Sheetal Sharma is crafting a unique look for the antagonist, adding an intriguing visual dimension to the film.

Thama is set against two contrasting backdrops, intertwining the contemporary setting of Delhi with the historical Vijayanagara Empire. This narrative choice not only enhances the storytelling but also adds layers of depth to the horror-comedy genre.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently highlighted the film’s promotional efforts on social media, noting its significance as part of a broader horror-comedy universe introduced by producer Dinesh Vijan. Adarsh shared that after the successes of films like Stree 2 and Munjya, Thama will introduce an engaging love story woven into its thrilling narrative. Scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release, audience anticipation is building for this unique cinematic experience, which also includes notable contributions from writers Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara, alongside direction by Aditya Sarpotdar.

In related news, Ayushmann Khurrana has also recently been involved in filming another untitled project alongside Sara Ali Khan in Manali, showcasing his continuous engagement with diverse roles and genres in the film industry.
