Babil Khan, riding high on the success of *Logout*, is making waves not just with his acting chops but also with a powerful personal choice—he plans to drop his surname, ‘Khan,’ following in the footsteps of his late father, Irrfan.

Babil Khan has decided to drop the ‘Khan’ surname, inspired by his late father Irrfan, as a move towards asserting his individuality. He mentioned, “Lineage doesn’t let you be yourself.”

Recently, Babil Khan has garnered attention not only for his role in the captivating cyber-thriller *Logout*, but also for his intention to relinquish his surname “Khan.” This decision is significantly influenced by the legacy of his father, the renowned actor Irrfan Khan, whose impact on Indian cinema is profound.

During a heartfelt discussion with *Filmfare*, Babil looked back at his family’s legacy and its connection to his personal journey of self-discovery. When asked about his father’s distinguished lineage, he humorously remarked, “I’m a prince!” However, his tone shifted to a more serious reflection as he noted, “My grandfather gave it all up. He detached himself from that life completely.”

Inspired by his father’s choices, Babil shared that Irrfan had chosen to stop using the surname “Khan” in the latter part of his career. He aspires to make a similar decision in the future, emphasizing that this move is about embracing his own identity rather than making a grand statement. “The lineage makes you a part of this conformity,” Babil elaborated. “It doesn’t let you get to your individuality… To let your individuality shine, you have to let go of your lineage.”

He was careful to clarify that this decision does not stem from any deeper ideological belief. “It’s not some agenda,” he said. “It’s just about being true to who I am.”

Babil frequently expresses his admiration and love for his father on social media. In a poignant tribute, he wrote, “You taught me to be a warrior, but engage with love and kindness. You don’t have fans—you have a family. And I promise you, Baba, I will fight for our people and our family till you call upon me.”

Currently, Babil stars in *Logout*, which is available for streaming on ZEE5. In the film, he portrays Pratyush Dua, a celebrated social media influencer nearing 10 million followers. When his phone unexpectedly goes missing, Pratyush’s calm digital existence unravels, compelling him to face the harsh realities of online recognition. Directed by Amit Golani and written by Biswapati Sarkar, the film is backed by a talented production team that includes Kevin Vaz, Ajit Andhare, Sameer Saxena, Saurabh Khanna, and Golani himself.

As Babil embarks on this personal and professional journey, he communicates a clear message: he aspires to be recognized not merely as Irrfan Khan’s son, but simply as Babil. Just Babil.
