Tragic Avalanche Incident Claims Life of Skier in British Columbia

In a devastating incident, a backcountry skier lost his life in an avalanche near Golden, British Columbia, on Monday. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported receiving a distress call late in the evening concerning two skiers who had not returned home from their outing in the mountainous region southeast of Golden.

While one skier managed to make it back to safety, he sadly informed authorities that his friend, a 42-year-old resident of Golden, had perished in the avalanche. According to the survivor, despite his efforts to revive his companion, the severity of the situation forced him to leave the area to ensure his own survival.

Following the report, search-and-rescue teams deployed a helicopter to the location and successfully retrieved the deceased skier’s body. The BC Coroners Service is currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
