BBC Launches Search for a New Football Pundit

The BBC has commenced an exciting initiative to identify a fresh football expert, featuring 12 aspiring content creators vying for a coveted position as a contributor for BBC Sport. This engaging competition, titled Last Pundit Standing, will be available for viewing on both BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

Co-hosting the series are notable figures, former Watford captain Troy Deeney and popular YouTuber James Lawrence Allcott. Their combined experience in football and new media is expected to bring a dynamic flair to the show.

The aspiring pundits will be narrowed down through a series of challenges set in iconic football venues, where they will face tasks devised by prominent figures in the football community, offering them a unique opportunity to showcase their knowledge and passion for the sport.

The candidates competing in this innovative format include Toby Addison, Ally Tomlinson, Cathal Traquair, Fuad Abdul Aziz, Rukiah Ally, Jess Watkins, Khwaja Raees Mahmood, Reggie Yembra, Nancy Baker, Nahyan Chowdhury, Lia Lewis, and Oscar Browning.

Deeney expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I’m absolutely buzzing to co-host Last Pundit Standing. There’s something really special about the energy that surrounds an exciting new show like this. We’re bringing together some amazing creators in incredible locations, with some huge special guests. I can’t wait to dive in and have some fun over the series.”

The venture is a collaboration between the BBC Creator Lab and BBC Sport. This program serves as a talent search initiative in partnership with TikTok, targeting social and digital creators keen on advancing their careers in television.
