Bears Snap Losing Streak with Dramatic Win Over Packers
In a pivotal matchup, the Chicago Bears faced off against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, driven by the desire to conclude their season positively.
The Bears achieved this goal dramatically, as kicker Cairo Santos secured a 51-yard field goal, clinching a 24-22 victory over their longtime rivals. This win not only ended Chicago’s 10-game losing streak this season but marked a historic moment as they triumphed over the Packers for the first time in 11 games.
The thrilling game unfolded at Lambeau Field, where the Bears sought to build momentum heading into the offseason. Santos’s kick was a highlight, showcasing his ability to deliver under pressure. With this victory, the Bears concluded the season with a 5-12 record.

The crucial last drive began shortly after the Packers took the lead with a 55-yard field goal by Brandon McManus, pushing the score to 22-21 with just 54 seconds remaining. Chicago’s offense needed to act decisively, equipped with only one timeout. Initial setbacks occurred, including a sack against quarterback Caleb Williams, but a pivotal penalty turned the tide in favor of the Bears.
A horse collar tackle penalty awarded the Bears a critical 15 yards, allowing them to advance to the 35-yard line instead of being trapped deep in their own territory. Williams quickly recovered, completing a pass to rookie Rome Odunze that moved the team to midfield.

On a pivotal third down from the Green Bay 46-yard line, Williams attempted a pass to D.J. Moore. However, an illegal shift call halted the progress. Facing a challenging 3rd-and-11 situation with only 15 seconds on the clock, Williams connected with Moore again, this time for an 18-yard gain. The team rushed to the line and spiked the ball with just two seconds left, setting up Santos for the decisive kick.
The kick sailed through the air, displaying both distance and precision, igniting celebrations among the Bears players and fans alike.
Despite the defeat, the Packers remained playoff-bound; however, the loss, combined with the Washington Commanders’ victory, downgraded Green Bay to the No. 7 seed in the NFC. This shift means they must travel to Philadelphia to face the No. 2 Eagles instead of matching up with the No. 3 Rams in Los Angeles.
In terms of individual performances, Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 148 yards and delivered a touchdown pass to Moore, who had an impressive outing with nine receptions for 86 yards. Running back D’Andre Swift also contributed significantly, scoring a touchdown on 20 carries for 65 yards.
One of the standout moments of the game came with Josh Blackwell’s electrifying 94-yard punt return, marking the Bears’ first touchdown and showcasing one of the season’s most effective trick plays.
On the Packers’ side, Jordan Love began the game but was substituted as a precaution due to an elbow injury, making room for Malik Willis who completed 10 of 13 passes for 136 yards. Running back Josh Jacobs also crossed the goal line for Green Bay, further contributing to the day’s competitive spirit.
