Emotional Resonance of “Elf” Shines in New Broadway Production
Grey Henson recently shared his heartfelt feelings about the Broadway adaptation of “Elf,” expressing how the show profoundly affects him on an emotional level. Speaking to BroadwayWorld’s Richard Ridge, Henson remarked, “It has surprised me how much this show hits me in my emotional core.” He noted the charm of the original film but emphasized that the musical allows for a deeper connection. “When people sing, you dive deeper into their psyches— you get so much heart from this production. We get to share that and bring so many people joy right now… what a gift!”
Henson takes the lead in this vibrant production, which recently had its grand opening at the Marquis Theatre. He is joined by an impressive cast that includes Kayla Davion, Michael Hayden, Ashley Brown, and Sean Astin, who makes his Broadway debut in this heartwarming tale.
On the opening night, Astin shared his observations about the audience’s response during the previews. He commented on the atmosphere, describing it as one filled with “irrational exuberance of desperation.” Astin sensed that attendees were keenly appreciative, as they were eager to engage with a narrative that offers warmth and connection. “They were so grateful to be welcomed into the arms of a loving, storytelling experience,” he recounted.
