Miscast25 Brings Star-Studded Performances to MCC Theater
On Monday evening, the MCC Theater hosted Miscast25, an eagerly awaited event in New York’s theatrical calendar. Set in the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom, this annual showcase brings together some of the most renowned talents from stage and screen, who perform numbers from roles that they are not typically associated with.
This year’s lineup included a diverse array of performers, such as Cole Escola with “Iowa Stubborn,” Raúl Esparza singing “Defying Gravity,” and Ana Gasteyer performing “A Sentimental Man.” The repertoire also featured Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard’s duet on “The Confrontation,” as well as Nick Jonas delivering “Still Hurting.” Other highlights included Kecia Lewis’s captivating Hamilton medley, Adam Pascal’s rendition of “Memory,” and a duet by Steven Pasquale and Phillipa Soo with “Not a Day Goes By/Without You.” Additionally, Nicole Scherzinger took the stage with “I Am What I Am,” while Helen J Shen impressed with “The Impossible Dream.” Aaron Tveit showcased “I Know Him So Well,” and Jordan Tyson sang “Strangers Like Me.” The evening concluded with a performance of “Dreamgirls” by Jordan Fisher, Britton Smith, and Ephraim Sykes. Musical direction was expertly handled by Will Van Dyke.
In recognition of their contributions to the arts, the event honored Emmy, Critics Choice, and Independent Spirit Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph alongside MCC Youth Company alum and artist Travis Raeburn.
For the first time, Miscast25 will be available for free streaming globally starting on April 21. Additional information regarding the digital broadcast will be provided soon, supported in part by generous contributions from the Tiger Baron Foundation.
