Preview of the New Musical ‘WHY AM I SO SINGLE?’
From the acclaimed creators of the hit musical SIX, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, comes their highly anticipated new work, WHY AM I SO SINGLE? This exciting production promises to take audiences on a journey through the ups and downs of modern dating.
In this innovative musical, two close friends navigate the complexities of their romantic lives in a world dominated by dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. With humor and heart, WHY AM I SO SINGLE? delves into themes of love, friendship, and the quirks of being single in today’s society.
The show presents a light-hearted take on the question of how two vibrant and appealing individuals remain unattached. Their quest is further complicated by the challenge of finding an engaging topic for their next musical project, blending their personal and professional lives in amusing ways.
Recently, the production has announced its lead casting.
Jo Foster, known for her roles in & Juliet and Just For One Day in the West End, will reprise her part from earlier workshops. She is joined by the talented Leesa Tulley, recognized for her work in the UK Tour of SIX and the play Kin at Theatro Technis. Together, they portray best friends tackling the intricacies of modern love and even the light-hearted dilemma of flirting with a Deliveroo driver, demonstrating their unwavering support for one another through it all. They will also share the stage with Noah Thomas, known for his roles in Netflix’s Everything Now and the West End’s Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Additional ensemble cast members will be revealed soon.
The musical features a collection of vibrant pop songs, crafted by the dynamic duo Marlow & Moss, who have been hailed as the ‘future of musical theatre’ by British Vogue. High-energy choreography will be choreographed by Ellen Kane, recognized for her work in productions like Matilda the Musical and Dear England, promising to enhance the musical’s lively atmosphere.
According to Marlow and Moss, the core of WHY AM I SO SINGLE? lies in exploring friendship, the search for connection, and the experiences of loneliness. They hope attendees leave the theater feeling uplifted and inspired to reach out to loved ones immediately following the show.
The production is backed by a robust team, including producer Kenny Wax, who brings over 25 years of experience in the industry and has previously worked on several award-winning shows in the West End and Broadway. He has been involved in notable productions like The Play That Goes Wrong and the global phenomena of SIX. Kenny expresses his excitement at being part of this new venture for Marlow and Moss.
