Beirut, the orchestral pop endeavor led by Zach Condon, has unveiled plans for a forthcoming album. Drawing inspiration from Judith Schalansky’s intricately crafted German novel Verzeichnis einiger Verluste, the new project titled A Study of Losses comprises 18 tracks. This album has been notably commissioned by the Swedish circus group Kompani Giraff for a theatrical acrobatic performance, showcasing the intersection of visual art and music.
The album will present the previously released single “Caspian Tiger” along with a fresh track titled “Guericke’s Unicorn,” which debuts today accompanied by a captivating music video. This video integrates elements such as choreography, puppetry, and stage design, all crafted by Kompani Giraff.
The launch date for A Study of Losses is set for April 18 and will be released through Pompeii Records. This upcoming album follows Condon’s last release under the Beirut name, titled Hadsel, which was made available in November 2023.
