Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal unveil chilling conspiracy in The Accountant 2 trailer
Ben Affleck reunites with Jon Bernthal for the sequel to 2016’s The Accountant, now titled The Accountant 2, produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by Gavin O’Connor and penned by Bill Dubuque, this action thriller follows the success of the first film, which earned over $150 million globally. Watch the trailer below.
In this sequel, Christian Wolff (Affleck) is drawn into a murder investigation when an old friend is found dead, leaving behind a mysterious clue urging him to “find the accountant.” Realizing that he’ll need to take drastic action, Wolff reaches out to his estranged but dangerous brother, Brax (Bernthal), for assistance. Together with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they delve into a perilous conspiracy, encountering an array of deadly adversaries determined to silence them.
The Accountant 2 is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8, 2025, before its wider theatrical release on April 25.
Karla Sofía Gascón absent from BAFTA Film Awards

Best Actress nominee and star of Emilia Pérez, Karla Sofía Gascón, will not be attending this weekend’s BAFTA Film Awards. Although her co-stars Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña—both nominated for Best Supporting Actress—will be participating and presenting an award, Gascón’s absence is notable, following the recent revelation of her past racist tweets which led to her removal from the Emilia Pérez Oscar campaign.
The BAFTA Awards will also feature a star-studded lineup of presenters including Adam Scott, Anna Kendrick, Camila Cabello, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colman Domingo, Isabella Rossellini, James McAvoy, James Norton, Jessie Eisenberg, Letitia Wright, Leo Woodall, Lupita Nyong’o, Marisa Abela, Mark Hamill, Naomi Ackie, Pamela Anderson, Ralph Fiennes, Simon Pegg, Thomasin McKenzie, Vanessa Kirby, Will Poulter, and Will Sharpe. Music legends Cher, Dave Grohl, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, St. Vincent, and Wyclef Jean are confirmed to join the lineup for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
This milestone event, celebrating 50 years of iconic performances on Saturday Night Live, will also feature surprise appearances from well-known personalities such as Ana Gasteyer, Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, Paul Shaffer, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell, and others. Previous confirmed performers include Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s, and The Roots.
This exclusive concert will be executive produced by Emmy award winner Lorne Michaels alongside Grammy and Oscar winner Mark Ronson, and it will stream live on Peacock on February 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The Paley Center for Media has revealed an impressive list of additional stars slated to participate in key events at PaleyFest LA 2025, which will be held from March 21 to March 28 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

On Swift Horses trailer released
The upcoming film On Swift Horses, directed by Daniel Minahan and featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva, and Sasha Calle, has unveiled its trailer. After making its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival, the film is scheduled for a nationwide release on April 25.
Sony’s official synopsis describes the plot as follows: Muriel and her husband Lee begin a promising new life in California upon his return from the Korean War. However, their newfound stability is disrupted by the arrival of Lee’s captivating brother, Julius, a gambler with a troubled history. A complex romantic triangle emerges as Julius seeks out a young card cheat he has fallen for, prompting Muriel to explore her own hidden desires through a risky secret life of gambling on horse races, leading to unexpected romantic possibilities.
