Earlier this year, audiences were introduced to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in the forthcoming Netflix thriller RIP. Recently released images further reveal the rugged looks of the duo in a crime film exploring the lengths to which individuals will go for financial gain. This project marks the first on-screen collaboration between Damon and Affleck since their 2023 film AIR, although they have teamed up on various projects since, such as The Accountant 2, which starred Affleck while Damon took on the role of executive producer.
New visuals from RIP, shared by Discussing Film, portray the actors in bulletproof vests, with Affleck handling a firearm. The film, directed and written by Joe Carnahan—who is known for works like The Grey and Bad Boys for Life—centers on a team of Miami police officers who stumble upon millions in cash. This discovery breeds mistrust as external forces become aware of the significant haul, compelling the characters to reevaluate their allegiances. While this narrative may resonate as familiar, Affleck previously described it as “engaging,” highlighting its captivating essence:
“[It’s a] really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing. It’s a compelling, complicated human drama that also hearkens back to elements of cinema that audiences have cherished for years.”
Alongside Affleck and Damon, RIP features a strong cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Nestor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, and Lina Esco. Filming concluded last December after taking place in Los Angeles and New Jersey. While an official release date has yet to be announced, the anticipation builds as the crime thriller is anticipated to launch on Netflix sometime in 2025.
