Ben Youngs to Retire from Professional Rugby
Ben Youngs has confirmed his intention to retire from professional rugby at the conclusion of the current season. The 35-year-old scrum-half reached a significant milestone by making his 332nd senior appearance for Leicester Tigers as a substitute during their victory over Bristol Bears this past Easter Sunday.
Youngs holds the record as England’s most-capped male player, having earned 127 international caps. His impressive career includes participation in four Rugby World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023) and the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour in Australia. He has also enjoyed considerable success at the club level, being a five-time winner of the Premiership and a three-time finalist.
“The time will come to thank everybody who has helped me achieve what I have, but that’s for when it comes to an end,” Youngs mentioned. “For now, it’s about finishing this chapter of my life with some more success. I’m not done just yet.”
