Shubhangi Atre, widely recognized for her portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi on the renowned series ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain,’ has shared her thoughts on the viral reaction to her character’s signature line, ‘Sahi Pakde Hain.’ In an honest discussion, Atre expressed her astonishment at the catchphrase’s phenomenal popularity and the affection it has garnered among fans. She remarked, “It genuinely feels special and delightful. I never imagined that Angoori’s unique way of speaking would hold such significance in the audience’s hearts. Watching those social media reels brings a smile to my face, and I often find myself laughing as I think about my character.”
Atre continued, praising the writing team for their talent, stating, “Our writers are incredibly skilled, creating wonderful dialogues.” She also shared her process of adding a personal touch to her lines, noting, “Sometimes, I incorporate a pause, an adorable expression, or a playful word to enhance the Angoori effect. I strive to keep it genuine and sweet, just like her.”
She offered fans a glimpse into the lighter side of her work environment, revealing the challenges of maintaining composure during particularly funny scenes.
“Often, a scene is so comical that we can’t help but laugh. There was a moment when I struggled to deliver a simple line because everyone, including me, was in fits of giggles. We had to redo the scene multiple times, but we cherish those fun moments immensely.”
When discussing her ability to stay in character despite the laughter and mayhem, Shubhangi emphasized the importance of focus. She explained, “It can be challenging, to be honest. I take a moment to collect myself and remind myself—‘Angoori must remain serious, the audience needs to laugh, not me.’ (laughs) However, if someone makes a silly face or fumbles their lines humorously, it can quickly lead us all to burst into laughter.”
On whether she anticipated Angoori Bhabhi becoming a viral phenomenon in the current digital landscape, Shubhangi admitted, “Not in the least. I expected people to enjoy the show, but I never envisioned Angoori becoming a meme sensation and a trending figure. I believe it’s the simplicity and innocence of her character that resonates with people—even in today’s fast-paced world, such qualities remain cherished.”
For context, Shubhangi Atre took over the role of Angoori Bhabhi in ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’ in 2016, succeeding Shilpa Shinde.
