Bigscreen has introduced the Beyond 2, an advanced virtual reality headset designed for an immersive experience with a 116-degree field of view, purportedly surpassing that of competitors like the Meta Quest 3 and Valve Index. Weighing a mere 107 grams (approximately 3.8 ounces), this wired headset is priced starting at $1,019, although additional fees apply for eye-tracking functionality.

The Beyond 2 headset is designed to be compatible with SteamVR’s base stations and features micro-OLED displays, mirroring the resolution of its predecessor at 5120 x 2560 pixels with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. Bigscreen has enhanced the optics of the Beyond 2, claiming improvements in edge clarity, brightness, and reduced glare, as well as offering individual lens adjustments to accommodate different inter-pupillary distances.

In addition to the standard model, there’s a variant called the Beyond 2e, which starts at $1,219 and incorporates advanced eye-tracking technology using compact camera sensors comparable in size to a grain of sand. This feature can enhance the realism of virtual avatars in applications like VRChat by mirroring the user’s eye movements.

For users without an iPhone XR or later, which is typically required to create a detailed 3D scan of one’s face for a custom-fit face cushion, the Beyond 2 also offers a universal-fit Halo mount and cushion as an alternative option.

The Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e can be ordered now and are available in black, orange, and transparent cover shells, with expected shipment dates in June 2025.
