Comedian Bill Burr recently expressed irritation with reporters questioning him about Elon Musk and his political views during an event last month.
As he arrived at a Kennedy Center event honoring late-night host Conan O’Brien, Burr confronted journalist Nicholas Ballasy, who raised concerns about Burr’s previous criticisms of Musk.
During the occasion, Burr reiterated his lack of interest in current events, declaring, “I don’t watch the news.” He continued by stating, “I have no idea what’s going on. I watch Instagram. I watch people wipe out on motorcycles. I watch lions and hyenas fight each other…. I don’t think you should be asking a comedian. You’re a journalist.”

Following this, Ballasy pressed him further about his views on politics, contending that comedians often engage with current events.
To this claim, Burr responded sharply, saying, “No. That’s weak. That’s you guys passing the buck. You need to have balls again, which you don’t. You guys present stuff like that. You used to have guts. You need to get your balls back and it’s not my job. I’m a dancing clown.”
Earlier in the month, Burr had made headlines on “The View” for criticizing Musk, suggesting that the billionaire’s space ambitions were indicative of a disregard for Earth, stating, “I think Elon has got the rockets going because they realize there are other Earths out there, and they’re going to trash this one.”
Burr further encountered media queries about Luigi Mangione, a figure involved in a highly publicized murder case linked to UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

When asked about Mangione and whether he had supportive views regarding the case, Burr firmly asserted, “If you were reading up, I don’t think you read up on it, ‘cause I said what I felt about it and I said what a lot of people said.”
Refusing to partake in what he deemed sensationalism, Burr remarked, “No. No, I’m not going to just have some controversial moment so you can get clicks. What are you going to bring up next, the Middle East? I went to summer school three out of four years in high school. I’m not qualified to talk about this.”
In a previous interview with Variety magazine, Burr expressed a humorous view regarding the tension felt by CEOs following the murder, noting, “The funny thing when that CEO got whacked was watching CEOs have to be uncomfortable… It was fun to see them worry.”
