Anticipation Grows for ‘Landman’ Season 2 Featuring Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore

Creator Taylor Sheridan remains a powerful force in the television landscape, consistently attracting top talent to his projects. With the upcoming second season of Landman, Sheridan continues this trend as Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton gives insights into what viewers can expect. Thornton recently revealed exciting developments in the narrative, including the addition of Demi Moore, who will play a significant role in the new season. Scheduled for release later this year, the show promises fresh dynamics between its characters.

In the second season, Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, assumes the presidency of M-Tex, a major oil company, which was previously owned by Cami Miller, played by Moore, following the death of her husband, portrayed by Jon Hamm. Thornton hinted at an intense friction between his character and Moore’s as their interactions unfold on-screen.

Billy Bob Thornton’s Oilman Faces Double the Danger in ‘Landman’ Season 2

The upcoming season presents not only increased responsibilities for Thornton’s character but also heightened risks. According to the actor, Tommy’s challenges multiply as he juggles his duties as both an executive and a landman while trying to maintain his family life amid turbulent circumstances. Despite the added layers to his role, Thornton assures fans that the core of his character remains unchanged. He commented, “He goes from having a job that’s really difficult and a job that’s very dangerous to having two. Now I’m kind of executive and a landman and a family man in the midst of this tornado. It makes for some pretty interesting stuff, I have to say.”

When discussing his character’s attire, he lightheartedly mentioned that the only update to his wardrobe would be the occasional addition of a sport jacket over his usual outfit of jeans and a button-up shirt.

This season of Landman will also showcase a stellar cast alongside Thornton and Moore, including Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, and others. This series, co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, draws inspiration from Wallace’s podcast “Boomtown.” Despite receiving mixed reviews, it achieved remarkable viewership numbers, attracting 14.6 million viewers during its premiere week and emerging as one of Paramount’s major hits.

Set against the backdrop of the Texas oil industry, the series explores the struggles of roughnecks and millionaires seeking quick wealth while highlighting the journey of Tommy Norris, navigating his way through corporate and personal challenges during the fuel boom.

As anticipation builds for the official launch, the second season of Landman promises to delve deeper into the intricate world of the oil business, blending character drama with the cutthroat reality of the industry.
