Casting Announced for World Premiere of “Shit. Meet. Fan.”
MCC Theater has officially revealed the cast for its upcoming production of “Shit. Meet. Fan.,” a new play written and directed by renowned Obie Award winner and Tony Award nominee Robert O’Hara, known for his works such as MCC’s “BLKS” and “Slave Play.”
This fresh theatrical piece is inspired by the acclaimed film “Perfect Strangers,” directed by Paolo Genovese, which holds the distinction of being the most remade film in cinema history.
The cast for “Shit. Meet. Fan.” includes notable talents: Garret Dillahunt, recognized for his roles in “Hand of God” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” Genevieve Hannelius from “Along for the Ride,” Tony Award nominee Billy Magnussen, who has appeared in “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” Emmy Award winner Debra Messing, famed for her work on “Will and Grace,” Tramell Tillman from “Severance,” and Golden Globe nominee Constance Wu, known from “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Crazy Rich Asians.” Further casting announcements are anticipated soon.
The production is set to begin previews on October 10, with an official opening night scheduled for October 28. The limited engagement will run until November 17, 2024, at the Newman Mills Theater located at 511 W 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019.
The premise of “Shit. Meet. Fan.” revolves around a group of lifelong friends who decide to play a revealing game during an eclipse night: all phones are placed face up, and every text, email, and call must be disclosed out loud. As cocktails are consumed, hidden truths and long-buried secrets come to light. The question arises: are they prepared for the ensuing chaos that this game will unleash?
Characterized as an uproarious satire, the play unfolds in real time, showcasing the humorous and chaotic dynamics that ensue among friends.
The creative team for the production is comprised of notable talents, including scenic designer Clint Ramos, who is a Tony Award winner, and costume designer Sarafina Bush, a Tony Award nominee. The lighting design is crafted by Alex Jainchill, and sound design is by Palmer Hefferan, also a Tony Award nominee. Imani Champion serves as the Production Stage Manager, with casting managed by The Telsey Office.
“Shit. Meet. Fan.” is produced in collaboration with Eva Price, Simon Horsman, and Gianni Nunnari, promising an exciting theatrical experience as it makes its debut.
