Boumarang Inc., renowned for its hydrogen-powered autonomous drones, announced last week its acquisition of all intellectual property related to the Wavedrone platform from Shore House IVF, a technology firm based in the Faroe Islands.

“This acquisition is a clear step towards our goal of leading in autonomous and sustainable technology solutions,” remarked Dánial Hoydal, director of Shore House IVF. He emphasized that Boumarang’s vision and technological capabilities position Wavedrone for expedient commercialization and global implementation.

The Wavedrone represents an autonomous system tailored for aquatic settings. It features capabilities for dual filming above and below the water, along with a modular design and plug-and-play functionality. Originally developed to tackle pressing issues in marine monitoring, search operations, and environmental intelligence, this uncrewed surface vessel (USV) has sparked considerable interest from various industries, according to Shore House.

Wavedrone sets sights on expanding applications

The global drone industry is projected to exceed $100 billion by 2030, reflecting a growing appetite for hybrid and water-integrated solutions, as reported by Market.Us. Boumarang claims its hydrogen-powered drones are pushing forward with new benchmarks in both performance and sustainability.

Based in Irvine, California, the company has developed versatile, AI-driven robots aimed at resolving challenges across commercial, infrastructural, humanitarian, and military sectors. Their solutions range from autonomous last-mile delivery to emergency services and infrastructure repair, boasting customizable features, patented stability, and enhanced lifting capacities.

Boumarang further stated that incorporating Wavedrone allows it to target significant market opportunities that extend beyond aerial drones. The company aims to leverage this integration to enhance its operations in aquatic sectors, including:

Environmental monitoring – Collecting real-time data on water quality, climate impacts, and mapping pollution sources.
Media and entertainment – Providing comprehensive cinematographic capabilities above and beneath the water for film, sports, and exploration purposes.
Search and rescue – Facilitating swift aquatic surveillance to ensure effective life-saving operations.
Aquaculture and fisheries – Enabling monitoring of marine health, infrastructure, and fish stock assessments.

BioKey also announces strategic investment in Boumarang

The acquisition totals $3.5 million and was conducted entirely through Boumarang common stock, marking a key milestone in the company’s strategic shift from aerial to maritime operations.

In a parallel transaction, BioKey International (Nasdaq: BKIY) has taken a stake in Boumarang by purchasing 5 million shares in exchange for 20% of BKIY’s total shares issued and outstanding. This strategic equity partnership is expected to bolster the alignment of their mutual objectives within the rapidly advancing field of autonomous technology.

“The collaboration not only boosts Boumarang’s financial standing and visibility but also gives BioKey a significant foothold in Boumarang’s innovative hydrogen-powered drone technologies applicable in both aerial and maritime contexts,” the company asserted.

Boumarang is actively seeking partners, investors, and stakeholders interested in exploring the extensive capabilities of Wavedrone. Opportunities for demonstrations, prototypes, and collaborations are available upon inquiry.
