Heroic Acts Recognized at Fox Nation Patriot Awards

An unexpected reunion took place at the Fox Nation Patriot Awards, where Deacon Clarence McCallister, a man who bravely intervened during a dangerous incident at a Pennsylvania church, was honored for his heroism alongside the pastor he saved, Glenn Germany.

This dramatic event unfolded in May at Jesus’ Dwelling Place in North Braddock, Pennsylvania. During a church service, an armed assailant aimed his weapon at Pastor Germany. When the gunman pulled the trigger, it failed to discharge. Seizing the moment, McCallister rushed forward and tackled the attacker, preventing potential tragedy.

Months after the harrowing incident, the two men shared the stage at the Patriot Awards, expressing gratitude for their survival. During his acceptance speech for the “Award for Bravery,” McCallister acknowledged the collective courage present in society, stating, “In America here, we’re all heroes. We all have the heart to do whatever it takes that we need to do… We got mother instincts. We’re going to do anything to protect our children. We’re going to do anything to protect our loved ones.”

McCallister’s courageous actions not only safeguarded Pastor Germany but also ensured the safety of everyone present in the church. The atmosphere was one of celebration and gratitude as Germany, who made a surprise appearance, expressed his relief and thankfulness, declaring, “It’s good to be alive.”

Pastor Germany voiced his appreciation for divine intervention, saying, “I thank God for protecting me and watching over me. I thank God for keeping this angel… so I’m really grateful. I truly thank the Lord for protecting me.” He emphasized the importance of gratitude for his wife, who has been a steadfast support throughout his life.

In a poignant moment, Germany addressed the broader issue of mental health, reflecting on the motivations behind violent actions. “The young man who attempted that, I forgave him, and it’s all about us loving these young men and women who are going through mental illness,” he commented. “They need our help, and I’m just praying today that we can work together and show them love.”

Germany concluded his remarks with heartfelt wishes for the nation, hoping that it will grow to be both the safest and greatest country possible.
