Country artist Braxton Keith has been actively promoting his debut EP, Blue, while on tour. Recently, during a performance in Gilmer, Texas, he interrupted his show after becoming the target of beer cans being thrown from the crowd.
While singing his track “Honky Tonk City,” Keith found himself dodging projectiles as he attempted to engage with his audience. Frustrated, he halted the performance to address the disruptive behavior, stating, “Hey listen up, pause this s–t,” before asking his band to stop. He expressed his disapproval by saying, “I didn’t come here to get beer cans thrown at me, alright? This isn’t a godd–n Gavin Adcock concert, okay?” referencing a fellow artist in the country music scene.
Keith criticized the audience for their lack of respect, highlighting the impact of their actions on those around them. “Don’t be throwin’ f–kin’ beers out here,” he emphasized, pointing out that concertgoers at the front were getting drenched and that it would create hostility among fans.
In his effort to promote a more respectful environment, Keith drew attention to a young girl in the crowd who was experiencing her first country concert. “This little girl right here’s never been to a country concert before, and it’s her first d–n time, okay? We’re gonna have a good show for her, okay?” he urged the crowd before resuming the performance.
After the incident, Keith shared a video clip of the moment on TikTok and reiterated his stance in the caption, emphasizing that throwing beer and trash at performers is unacceptable in any concert setting. He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the atmosphere of live music and the integrity of the performance experience.
In response, Adcock issued a comment criticizing Keith for mentioning him amid the controversy. He suggested that Keith should learn to manage his own fans rather than dragging others into the situation, asserting, “Maybe he should learn how to handle HIS fans without bringing someone else into it. I do it every night without bringing anybody else up. Welcome to the big leagues kid.”
Keith is scheduled to perform next on April 11 at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo in Hitchcock, Texas.
