BTS Achieves Milestone as Fifth Most Streamed Artist on Spotify
The global phenomenon BTS has reached a significant milestone, becoming the fifth most streamed artist on Spotify. Despite the members—Suga, J Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—currently fulfilling their mandatory military service, their music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, contributing to this remarkable accomplishment.
With an astounding total of 65.4 billion streams, BTS’s record includes both their ensemble tracks and the solo works of each member. They now rank among the elite, trailing only behind renowned artists such as Drake, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and The Weeknd.
Jungkook is particularly making waves with his solo hit “Seven,” which has recently overtaken Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” on Spotify’s all-time streaming list. Achieving a remarkable 1.92 billion streams, “Seven” is now the 124th most streamed song in Spotify’s history, surpassing “Blank Space,” which stands at 1.9 billion streams.
Moreover, Jungkook’s track “Standing Next to You,” from his latest album “GOLDEN,” is also setting records. This song has rapidly approached 900 million streams, marking it as the fastest solo release by an Asian artist to reach this milestone. Jungkook is now the first and only K-pop soloist from Asia to have three songs—”Seven,” “Dynamite,” and “Standing Next to You”—each surpassing 900 million streams on the platform.
In another remarkable achievement, Jungkook’s “GOLDEN” has become the first studio album by any Asian artist to feature multiple songs with over 900 million streams on Spotify, distinguishing it further as no other Asian act’s album has even two tracks with at least 750 million streams.
Data from Guinness World Records previously highlighted that BTS’s “Dynamite” has amassed 1.60 billion streams, followed by “Butter” with 1.08 billion, and “Boy With Luv” at 1.01 billion. This impressive streaming performance solidifies BTS’s status as the most streamed male group on Spotify for the second consecutive time. In comparison, Blackpink, featuring members Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa, holds the record for the most streamed female K-pop group on the platform.
In celebration of their 11th debut anniversary, BTS’s agency, HYBE Entertainment, hosted a special event called FESTA on July 13, 2024. Jin took the opportunity to connect with fans, enriching the experience for ARMYs during this gathering. As the other members continue their military duties, they are expected to complete their service by July 2025, maintaining a strong bond with their fan base throughout their hiatus.
