J-Hope’s New Single Takes the Top Spot on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales Chart
J-Hope, the renowned rapper and dancer of BTS, continues to make waves in his solo career with the release of his latest single, “Mona Lisa.” Released on March 21, the track has made a strong entrance by debuting at number one on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, reaffirming his significant appeal in the music industry.
The chart, which highlights the top-selling digital tracks in the United States, is based on sales figures from popular platforms including iTunes and Amazon. Data from Luminate, a leading music analytics firm, reveals that “Mona Lisa” sold an impressive 12,300 digital copies within its first week, surpassing the sales of other competitors significantly. For comparison, “Anxiety” by Doechii, which occupies the second spot, managed to sell 7,700 copies, leaving J-Hope’s single with a notable lead of 5,600 copies.
This achievement marks a moment of celebration for J-Hope, particularly as it is his second number one hit in just a month. His previous track, “Sweet Dreams,” featuring Miguel, also topped the Digital Song Sales chart earlier. Prior to these recent successes, the 31-year-old artist had multiple singles in the top 10, but this surge to the number one position is a significant milestone in his burgeoning solo career.
With this latest accomplishment, J-Hope joins fellow BTS members RM and Jin, both of whom also have two number ones on the Digital Song Sales chart. In comparison, Jimin leads with six, while Jungkook follows with five. Suga, known as Agust D, has achieved three top positions on the same chart, showcasing the consistent success of the BTS members in their solo endeavors.
In addition to its impressive performance on the Digital Song Sales chart, “Mona Lisa” is finding success across various other Billboard rankings. The single debuted at number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100, which accounts for overall song performance based on sales, streaming, and airplay. Internationally, the song debuted at number nine on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart and landed at number 14 on the Billboard Global 200.
In tandem with his musical achievements, J-Hope is currently on his inaugural solo tour titled “Hope on the Stage.” The tour kicked off on February 28 in Seoul, South Korea, and is set to conclude on June 1 in Osaka, Japan, allowing fans to experience his artistry firsthand.
