BTS star V’s subtle post appears to be a response to the storm of rumors and allegations surrounding him.

Kim Taehyung, popularly known as V from BTS, is currently fulfilling his mandatory service in the South Korean military.

On November 22, 2024, V shared an enigmatic post on his Instagram Story that has caught the attention of fans worldwide. The image depicted a cat along with the words, “You’re overthinking it again. Things will be fine,” accompanied by V’s own humorous note stating, “I got it, Teacher Cat. I won’t break down.”

The timing of this post has led many to speculate, as it coincides with ongoing discussions about Min Hee Jin, the former CEO of ADOR, and HYBE, the record label representing BTS. While V did not directly comment on the situation, fans are eager to interpret the connection between his message and the recent controversies.

The conflict appears to have intensified when Min Hee Jin mentioned in a live stream that V had reached out to her, noting that he had even sent her a message at dawn on her birthday. Notably, she did not clarify whether she was referring to her most recent birthday, and these comments emerged during an October 2024 interview with music critic Kim Young Dae.

Min’s comments became controversial, especially as they surfaced during V’s military enlistment, leading to accusations that he was breaching military protocols regarding phone usage. Moreover, a complaint was filed by a netizen suggesting that V had enjoyed special privileges.

In response to these allegations, the South Korean military conducted an investigation which yielded the following conclusions:

Military Phone Policy: Service members are allowed to use their phones for designated periods during rest times, including weekends and holidays, with a daily limit of one hour.

V’s Phone Usage: It was confirmed that V complied with these regulations, utilizing his phone only during approved afternoon slots, not during the early hours as claimed.

Special Treatment: The investigation disclosed no evidence supporting claims of preferential treatment or any misconduct by V.

Privacy Restrictions: To safeguard his personal privacy in accordance with South Korean data protection laws, specific details about V’s communications were not released.

Even with these clarifications, Min Hee Jin’s remarks, coupled with her ongoing tensions with HYBE, have propelled significant speculation. Known for playing a pivotal role in the rise of NewJeans—an emerging K-pop group managed by ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE—Min has faced accusations from HYBE regarding efforts to distance ADOR from the parent company, further complicating the situation.

Kim Taehyung, or V, is set to complete his military service on June 10, 2025, having enlisted on December 11, 2023, alongside fellow BTS member RM.
