In a landmark event at Goldin’s April Elite Auction, two high-profile cards from the 2024 NFL Draft fetched over $100,000, setting new public sale records for each player.
Caleb Williams, the first overall pick by the Chicago Bears, saw his 2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite 1/1 PSA 9 sell for $122,000, a figure that more than triples the previous highest sale for any of his cards.
Interestingly, prior to this auction, the highest public sale for a Williams card was the $37,200 recorded for a 2024 Topps NOW 1/1 at Fanatics Collect in October 2024, according to Card Ladder data.
Drake Maye, selected third overall by the New England Patriots, also made headlines when his 2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite 1/1 BGS 9.5 went for $109,800, more than doubling his previous record of $45,200 for the 2024 Panini Absolute Green Kaboom 1/1 PSA 10 sold in February.
These sales now rank as the highest prices for any player from the 2024 NFL Draft, surpassing the $85,000 that Jayden Daniels’ 2024 Panini Absolute Green Kaboom 1/1 PSA 8 fetched on eBay in January.
It’s noteworthy that these record sales for Williams and Maye are occurring during a period of overall price declines in their respective markets over the past year. Data from Market Movers indicates a nearly 55% drop in price for Williams, based on around 47,800 sales tracked in the last 365 days. Similarly, Maye has seen close to a 46% decline across over 48,000 recorded sales in that timeframe.
