Clashes have been reported between protestors and law enforcement in Caracas, as tensions rise over President Nicolás Maduro’s declaration of victory in a widely contested election.

Demonstrators have made their way toward the Miraflores Palace, expressing their discontent over electoral outcomes. Many have taken to social media, sharing images of the protests and using slogans such as “knock down the dictator” and “everyone to Miraflores.”

Eyewitness accounts indicated a significant military presence, with armed convoys seen heading towards the presidential residence, while soldiers in balaclavas were noted securing the area with large weapons. As evening fell, the sounds of pots and pans being banged resonated through neighborhoods, with groups of protesters chanting “Afuera” (Out) and “Libertad” (Freedom) in a show of unity.

Her father, Miguel Sarzalejo, 64, echoed her sentiments, asserting that Maduro has lost the election and calling for fundamental changes to benefit the youth. “If the youth all leave, only old people will be left in Venezuela, only senior citizens,” he warned.

Participants like Cristobal Martinez, who adorned himself with a Venezuelan flag, reinforced the notion that the recent election was marred by fraud.
