Justin Vernon Discusses New Album and Collaborations on The Tonight Show
Justin Vernon made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, where he unveiled the meaning behind the title of his upcoming album, SABLE, fABLE. The Bon Iver frontman delved into various topics, including his collaborations with artists like Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, his experiences with being featured on the jumbotron at WNBA games, and his neighbors’ perceptions of his recording studio, April Base, located in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. This week, Vernon also revealed the lyrics to an unreleased song titled “Day One (feat. Dijon and Flock of Dimes)” through a poetic piece published in The New Yorker. Scheduled for release on April 11 through Jagjaguwar, SABLE, fABLE will not only include singles such as “Everything Is Peaceful Love,” “Walk Home,” and “If I Could Only Wait (feat. Danielle Haim),” but it will also feature the four tracks from last year’s SABLE EP.
Last year, Vernon launched Counterpart, a website aimed at showcasing covers of Bon Iver songs, alongside photos and videos contributed by fans in response to various prompts. His visit to Fallon continues a trend of featuring prominent indie rock artists, including names like Japanese Breakfast, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker among others.
