Doug Kiker’s Cause of Death Revealed a Month After His Passing
One month following the tragic death of Doug Kiker, the former contestant from “American Idol,” the official cause has been disclosed.
According to a report from TMZ, the City and County of Denver Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Kiker’s death resulted from an accidental overdose of a cocktail including fentanyl, methadone, and amphetamines, compounded by recent cocaine use.
The circumstances surrounding Kiker’s passing were described as accidental. In March, it was reported that while walking in Denver, a concerned bystander contacted emergency services believing Kiker might be suffering from an overdose. He was swiftly taken to a hospital but succumbed to his condition five days later.
Kiker’s ex-fiancée, Valerie Cook, was among the first to confirm the news of his passing, expressing profound grief over the loss.
Family members have since taken to social media to pay tribute to Kiker. His sister, Angela Evans, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my brother Douglas Kiker. He was so loved and will be missed by so many! Your singing with the Angels now, Bubba. Please pray for our family as we navigate through this extremely difficult time.”
Another sibling, Donna Kiker Carrillos-Ramirez, shared her sorrow, stating, “Today I got the call that no one wants to get. We lost an amazing person today. He had the biggest smile and knew how to make you laugh. Though I didn’t raise him, my love for him never faded. My parents did an incredible job with him. Douglas Kiker, you will forever be missed. Fly high. Say hey to grandma.”
Kiker, who gained fame as the “Singing Garbage Man” during his appearance on Season 18 of “American Idol,” touched viewers’ hearts with his rendition of Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road,” which brought Katy Perry to tears. A recording of his memorable audition can be viewed here.
