Celine Dion Issues Alert Regarding Unauthorized AI-Generated Music Misusing Her Voice
Celine Dion has recently taken to social media to caution her fans about the presence of unauthorized, AI-generated music that incorrectly claims to feature her vocals. These deceptive tracks are reportedly popping up across various streaming platforms, creating confusion among listeners.
In her official statement, Dion expressed her concern, saying, “It has come to our attention that unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Celine Dion’s musical performances, and name and likeness, is currently circulating online and across various Digital Service Providers.”
While Dion did not pinpoint specific songs in her message, it is widely believed she was referencing an AI-generated rendition of the gospel song “Heal Me Lord.” This particular version, which surfaced on YouTube several months ago, has gained significant traction across numerous accounts.
One particular video that falsely attributes the song to Dion has garnered over one million views, misleading audiences into thinking it is an authentic performance. However, investigations on leading streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music have not uncovered any of these misleading recordings associated with Dion.
Dion emphasized that these tracks are not only unauthorized but also do not form part of her official catalog. She urged her fans to remain vigilant, stating, “Please be advised that these recordings are fake and not approved.”
The rise of AI-generated music has become a growing issue in the music industry, raising questions about rights and ownership. The technology allows for sophisticated software to analyze and mimic an artist’s voice with startling precision, often without their permission. A notable instance of this trend involved Canadian artist Drake, who faced backlash after a track featuring an AI-generated verse that imitated the voice of the late Tupac Shakur was released. This track, said to be a diss aimed at rapper Kendrick Lamar, sparked considerable controversy.
