The Orange County Public Schools district has identified the teacher as Italo Brett Bonini, who worked at Hunters Creek Middle School.
Law enforcement in Maryland first alerted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on February 4 about Bonini after they uncovered exchanges on Discord that involved a conversation with a minor.
Investigations revealed that Bonini allegedly initiated contact with two young boys, aged 8 and 6 from Maryland, and attempted to persuade them to carry out sexual acts in front of a camera, at times involving each other.
During questioning by federal agents, Bonini reportedly stated, “I fell into temptation that I should not have. I’m not a sick individual; I made a mistake,” according to the federal affidavit.
The Orange County School District issued a statement to Channel 9, noting that while they refrain from commenting on specific personnel matters, families from Hunters Creek Middle School have been informed that the faculty member has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation. He will not be returning to the school during this period.
