Charli XCX Emerges as a Star at the 2025 BRIT Awards

Charli XCX, the celebrated artist of the year at the 2025 BRIT Awards, made a striking appearance in a Dilara Findikoglu dress. The gown featured sheer layers that strategically obscured her figure, prompting discussions about its audacity during the ceremony aired by ITV.

Upon accepting her award on March 1 at the O2 Arena in London, Charli humorously addressed the network’s concerns, stating, “I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples. I feel like we’re in the era of free the nipple though, right?”

The audience responded with cheers as she expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thanks for being on my side.”

Styled by Chris Shoran, Charli’s dress stems from Dilara Findikoglu’s autumn/winter 2025 collection. The black garment featured a sleek, pencil skirt design layered over a minimalist bikini-like base, complementing the attire with classic Christian Louboutin pumps.

During her acceptance speech, Charli acknowledged her team’s vital role in her artistic success, stating, “I’ve gotta say, I feel like I’ve always been an artist but it really takes a whole team, and they’re all like sat at that table. I just want to say thank you so much to the people who helped me make this record.” She celebrated not only her victory in the artist of the year category but also her prior accolades for song of the year and dance act.

Charli also gave a heartfelt nod to her fiancé, George Daniel, saying, “George Daniel, love you, baby.” Daniel, a prominent figure in the music industry as a member of The 1975, has contributed significantly to her work, producing tracks such as “Apple” and collaborating on other songs from her recent album Brat.

Expressing solidarity with fellow artists, Charli stated, “Thank you to all the artists out there who feel like they don’t fit in but are brave enough to try and be rejected a million times. I share this with you.”

As the ceremony progressed, Charli encouraged the audience to “keep partying,” hinting at her own revelries that night. Host Jack Whitehall even teased that she had requested not to perform, intending to enjoy the festivities instead.

At the awards, Charli secured four impressive titles, including artist of the year, album of the year, and song of the year for “Guess,” featuring Billie Eilish. She was also honored with the honorary songwriter of the year title, with A.G. Cook winning the producer of the year award for Brat.

Looking ahead, Charli hinted at evolving her sound for future projects, saying, “I’ll probably do something completely different.”

Reflecting on her journey, she noted, “I used to tell myself that things like this weren’t important. That was really easy for me to do because until last year I was literally never nominated for anything… Now it’s cool to not be in that position.”

She concluded with the observation that “this time around the culture caught up with us and wanted to be on the journey with us.”
