Charu Asopa Relocates from Mumbai to Bikaner, Citing High Living Costs and Parenting Priorities
Actor Charu Asopa recently made headlines after revealing her relocation from Mumbai to her hometown of Bikaner, Rajasthan, alongside her daughter Ziana. Asopa’s decision was influenced by the high living expenses in Mumbai, leading her to sell traditional attire online, including salwar kameez and sarees, which she shared through social media.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Asopa confirmed the shift and said, “I have shifted to my hometown Bikaner, Rajasthan. I have left Mumbai for now, and I am currently living with my parents. It’s been more than a month since Ziana and I moved here.”
Diving into the factors behind her move, Asopa expressed, “Living in Mumbai is not easy; it costs money. For me, the monthly living cost came up to Rs 1 lakh – 1.5 lakh, encompassing rent and other expenses. Additionally, I was uncomfortable with leaving Ziana in the care of a nanny while I was away shooting in Naigaon. Returning home and starting my own business was a well-considered plan, not a hasty decision.”
Facing scrutiny from the public regarding her financial situation, Asopa stated, “When someone embarks on a new venture, challenges are expected. My experience is no different. I am handling everything on my own — from taking orders to sending packages. My journey in the acting world in Mumbai was also challenging, but I built my name gradually. Now, with this business, I aim to balance my work while focusing on my child, which I find to be a sensible choice.”
Charu Asopa shares her daughter Ziana with ex-husband Rajeev Sen, with their past relationship marked by media attention due to its difficulties and their subsequent divorce. On how Rajeev has responded to her move, she mentioned, “He can always visit his daughter in Bikaner. Before making the move, I informed him via a text about my plans.”
When questioned about her choice to sell clothing online, Asopa elaborated, “It’s not like I was engaged in a major acting project. I prefer not to take on a daily soap opera as my core focus is on Ziana. However, I can still create digital content from here. The advantage of being back home is that I can leave Ziana with her grandparents if I need to travel for work, rather than relying on a nanny.”
