During the latest segment of Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson infused a distinctive country flair into the Short n’ Sweet track by Sabrina Carpenter. The song, titled “Please Please Please,” was presented with a southern twang that reflects Clarkson’s Texas heritage, enhancing the song’s pre-existing country influence.
This isn’t the first time Carpenter’s music has graced the Kelly Clarkson Show. When Carpenter visited the show in 2020, she shared a memorable moment from her youth—her first concert was Clarkson’s Breakaway tour in the early 2000s. Carpenter reminisced, saying, “I still have the poster from your concert. It was the ‘Breakaway’ days, which I still listen to when I’m on airplanes, and I cry. You’re just such an inspiration to me.”
Clarkson has previously covered Carpenter’s work, including a rendition of “Feather” from Carpenter’s album Emails I Can’t Send, demonstrating a continual appreciation for Carpenter’s evolving artistry.

He noted the combination of classic artists like Olivia Newton-John and Dolly Parton, with a modern pop twist that Carpenter brings to her music. “The little vocal runs she does are so bizarre and unique — they’re doing this really odd, classic, almost yodel-y country thing,” he mentioned. Antonoff emphasized that Carpenter is rapidly becoming a prominent figure in pop music, with her latest single serving as a powerful statement about self-expression.
In a recent announcement, “Please Please Please” has been nominated for Song of the Year at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards. Carpenter’s nominations also include Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and three additional genre-specific categories, marking a significant recognition of her contributions to music.
