Chloë Sevigny’s Alpine-Inspired Look at the Kennedy Center Honors
As the winter season envelops us in festive coziness, Chloë Sevigny, the iconic New York figure, chose an unexpected mountainous motif for her recent appearance at the 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C.
This prestigious event, set to air on December 22, celebrates the remarkable contributions of notable artists, including this year’s honorees: The Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Francis Ford Coppola, Arturo Sandoval, and The Apollo Theater. The ceremony was hosted by Queen Latifah, also a recipient of recognition this year.
Among the highlights was a memorable moment captured in portraits featuring Sevigny alongside The Grateful Dead, a band she openly admires. Her presence at the event was a tribute to their influential legacy.
For the main portion of the evening, Sevigny dazzled attendees in a custom gown by Saint Laurent, characterized by a romantic aesthetic reminiscent of medieval royalty. The gown featured long sleeves and a layered sheer lace cape, blending classic elegance with modern sophistication.
Yet, it was the images taken backstage that offered a unique glimpse into Sevigny’s artistic wardrobe choices. She wore a striking Bertha patchwork long dress from Miu Miu’s Fall 2020 collection, designed with a round neckline and embellished with playful ruffles and bows. The multi-colored patchwork fabric, complemented by round-toed black boots, evoked images of alpine landscapes and winter wonderlands, perfectly suited for both style and function.
Sevigny’s knack for standout fashion was further exemplified when she was photographed at the Gotham Awards shortly after, showcasing another exquisite Saint Laurent piece by Anthony Vaccarello—a wine-colored, strapless mini dress with voluminous sleeves. This ensemble was paired with sheer tights and olive green peep-toe heels, solidifying her place as a style maven.
In reflecting on her unique choices, it’s clear that Chloë Sevigny continues to push the boundaries of fashion while honoring the artistic communities she deeply respects.
