Chris Eubank Jr. Honors Commitment to Fighters Affected by Canceled Bout
Chris Eubank Jr. has made good on his promise to compensate fighters who were supposed to participate in the undercard for his previously scheduled fight against Conor Benn, which was canceled in 2022.
The highly anticipated match between Eubank and Benn was originally set to take place over two years ago but was abruptly called off just days before the event when it was revealed that Conor Benn had failed two drug tests.
As of November last year, Benn’s provisional suspension was lifted, allowing him to resume his rivalry with Eubank Jr. The two are now set to face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26 in a highly publicized Ring Magazine event that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Despite the cancellation of their initial fight still being a contentious issue, both fighters are focused on the upcoming showdown.
During a recent press conference announcing their April 26 match, Eubank expressed his commitment to supporting the disrupted undercard fighters and urged Benn and his promoter Eddie Hearn to do the same.
“From my fight purse, I will distribute £50,000 to the fighters affected by the canceled bout to help cover some of their losses,” Eubank stated. “I’m not seeking accolades for this. I hope both Eddie and Conor contribute their own £50,000.”
Eubank has already begun making payments. Notably, former world title challenger Lyndon Arthur shared on social media his appreciation, stating, “Got to respect Eubank Jr. He actually paid what he said he would.” Additionally, current unified world champion Ellie Scotney confirmed Eubank’s reliability, posting, “Just checked my Eu-BANK statement and Chris was as good as his word. Thank you.”
Chris Eubank vs Conor Benn will be live on Saturday, April 26 on Sky Sports Box Office. Book now!
