Despite the severity of her injury at the moment of filming, Romano noted an optimistic outlook, saying, “everything’s kinda clearing out” and humorously adding that she can now say she “got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale.”

In her Instagram caption, Romano recounted how the unfortunate incident developed. She explained, “Yesterday was my husband’s birthday, and I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present. There was another party with us, and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face.”

Her husband, Brendan Rooney, acted swiftly, assessing her condition before rushing her to the hospital. Romano revealed that she was hit in five areas, with one injury just inches from her right eye. She disclosed that a fragment became lodged behind her eye, which the doctors deemed too risky to remove surgically at that point. “Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment),” she noted.

In her heartfelt message, Romano expressed profound gratitude for surviving the incident and emphasized the importance of cherishing loved ones. “I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can,” she advised. “Life can change in an instant.”

Rooney also shared his admiration for his wife in a comment on her post, calling her “the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met.” He conveyed his gratitude for her safety and her role as the mother of their children, stating, “I wouldn’t know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.”
