Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has achieved remarkable success by selling over a million copies just three days post-launch, which underscores its exceptional appeal in the gaming community.
This highly praised turn-based RPG, emerging as a potential frontrunner for accolades at the 2025 Game Awards, marks the inaugural release from developer Sandfall Interactive.
Sandfall initially disclosed that sales had surpassed 500K within the first 24 hours following the game’s April 24 release.
Sandfall Celebrates Another Significant Achievement
On April 27, Sandfall shared this impressive sales milestone on X/Twitter, expressing gratitude to fans for their support. “And here we are,” the studio stated, “Three days after launch; one million copies sold. Thank you for believing in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.”
While the sales figures are commendable, Sandfall clarified in a follow-up communication that this count pertains solely to units dispatched to retailers, excluding other sales channels like Microsoft’s Game Pass service.
“This number includes units shipped to retailers, and does not encompass our awesome GamePass players. Thank you all,” the studio remarked.

Developed by a dedicated team of 30 over a span of five years, Expedition 33 has garnered widespread acclaim for its innovative approach to the turn-based combat genre, reminiscent of classic JRPGs.
The game features an extensive eight-hour soundtrack, composed by Lorien Testard, which is accessible in its entirety on Sandfall’s YouTube channel, and has been particularly well received.
Set in a fractured world under the influence of the enigmatic Paintress, Expedition 33 follows protagonist Gustave, who embarks on a quest to uncover the truths about his shattered reality, departing from Lumiere, one of humanity’s last strongholds.
