Amazon MGM Announces Adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s “Verity”
The success of Colleen Hoover’s literary works, particularly “It Ends With Us,” has made her novels increasingly popular in Hollywood. In a strategic move to expand its film slate, Amazon MGM has confirmed the addition of a movie adaptation of Hoover’s suspenseful novel “Verity,” set for release in 2026.
The film is set to feature talented actresses Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway in the lead roles. Johnson will portray Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling ghostwriter, while Hathaway will take on the role of Verity Crawford, a celebrated author facing personal demons.
Lowen’s journey begins when she is hired by Jeremy, Verity’s husband, played by Josh Hartnett, to complete Verity’s unfinished manuscript. Upon her arrival at the couple’s secluded lake house, Lowen is taken aback by Verity’s condition; she is catatonic and remains confined to her bed. As Lowen delves into Verity’s autobiographical writings, she uncovers unsettling revelations that may explain Verity’s state, drawing her into a complex web of attraction and moral conflict, particularly as she finds herself becoming involved with Jeremy.
A recently released sneak peek offers a glimpse into the dynamics between Verity and Jeremy, showcasing their initial meeting and transitioning to Lowen’s arrival at the eerie winter lake house. The clip intensifies when Lowen experiences a vivid nightmare in which she shares an intimate moment with Jeremy, only to be shocked by Verity’s presence, illustrating the psychological tension underpinning the story.
With its compelling narrative and engaging characters, “Verity” is slated to hit theaters on May 15, 2026, generating excitement among fans of psychological thrillers and Colleen Hoover’s work alike.
