Comedian Daniel-Ryan Spaulding Speaks on America’s Mental Health Crisis
Canadian comedian and pro-Israel activist Daniel-Ryan Spaulding has expressed deep concern over the state of mental health in the United States, emphasizing the need for national introspection. Since relocating to the U.S., Spaulding has observed signs of widespread demoralization and political division. He believes these factors are at the heart of a societal decline.
“If you grow up in an environment that views America and its institutions as fundamentally evil, it skews your understanding of right and wrong,” he noted, shedding light on how narratives can shape perceptions and behaviors.

Spaulding, known for his viral social media commentary, especially regarding the pro-Palestinian stance of some LGBTQ activists, has challenged the notion that supporting Hamas aligns with progressive values. He argues that such ideologies signify a troubling trend of self-hatred among Western societies.
“It’s alarming to see individuals from marginalized groups siding with a terrorist regime,” he articulated. “This reflects a significant moral issue that we must confront.”
Spaulding also critiqued the media’s role in perpetuating a culture of anger and division. He pointed out the disparities in reporting, highlighting how different outlets can portray the same events through drastically different lenses. “People exist in echo chambers, unaware of alternative viewpoints,” he remarked, stressing the importance of a balanced media landscape.

Additionally, Spaulding addressed the alarming rates of poor mental and physical health in America. He attributed this to a combination of unhealthy diets, reliance on prescription medications, and a pervasive culture of anger. “In my time here, I’ve noticed many people exhibiting signs of mental distress,” he shared. “Poor dietary choices contribute significantly to this health crisis.”
Having undergone a substantial personal transformation, losing 220 pounds in three years, Spaulding advocates for healthier eating habits. He commended Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for addressing the issues of unhealthy diets and childhood obesity, positing that effective policies in this realm could fundamentally improve public health.
When reflecting on America’s mental health issues, Spaulding suggested that the pharmaceutical industry’s interests often coincide with a media environment that thrives on fear and anxiety. He lamented that many news outlets prioritize sensationalism over factual reporting. “It’s a continuous loop of fear and anger, driving societal discord,” he commented.

Despite his critiques, Spaulding maintains a sense of optimism for the future. He perceives a potential shift toward a renewed patriotism in the U.S. that encourages people to take pride in their country and support its allies. “We need to embrace patriotism again and foster mutual understanding and care among one another,” he asserted. “There’s a yearning for a collective celebration of America and its values.”
