A fresh approach to gameplay in Overwatch 2 has arrived, significantly altering the dynamics of matches.
With the introduction of Perks, players can now access a myriad of upgrades tailored for each hero during gameplay, providing a customizable experience. These Perks, which include familiar abilities reminiscent of the original game—such as Bastion’s Self-Repair and Orisa’s Barrier—also introduce brand new enhancements. Defining Perks in Overwatch 2
Beginning with Season 15, every hero in OW2 can acquire Perks—selectable upgrades which heroes can earn during matches. Each hero will experience two level-ups in a match. The first level grants a choice between two Minor Perks, while the second provides options for Major Perks.
By the end of a match, all heroes will have active one Minor Perk and one Major Perk. Notably, if players switch heroes mid-game, they will restart at level one for the new hero but can unlock Perks quicker. Switching back to a previously used hero retains the currently unlocked Perks.

Utilizing Perks in Overwatch 2
Supports for earning Perks passively unfold during matches. Players accumulate XP through objectives, achieving kills, assisting allies, and providing healing. The XP bar for Perks is visible underneath the health bar.
Once the bar is fully charged, a Minor Perk becomes available for selection. After filling the bar a second time, players can choose a Major Perk. Pressing ALT or Up on the d-pad allows for Perk selection.
