Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary is scheduled for a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday regarding a hit he made on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Elias Pettersson. The incident occurred during the first period of the Canucks’ 4-3 shootout victory over the Flames on Wednesday evening.
During the play, Pettersson was engaged with Flames forward Nazem Kadri, who was driving towards the Canucks’ zone. In a swift move, Zary hit Pettersson high on the side of the head with his elbow, pinning him down to the ice. Zary was assessed a two-minute interference penalty for the action.
After the hit, Pettersson managed to play one additional shift before exiting the game. There have been no updates from the Canucks regarding the extent of his injuries following the match.
