Connor Zilisch Gears Up for Coca-Cola 600 After Promising Cup Debut
At just 18 years old, Connor Zilisch has already made significant strides in his racing career, debuting in the NASCAR Cup Series earlier this season at the Circuit of the Americas. The young driver, signed by Trackhouse Racing Team last year, took the wheel of a fourth car specifically for this event.
During his debut, Zilisch qualified in 14th place and demonstrated strong speed on the track. Unfortunately, his race ended prematurely when he collided with his teammate, Daniel Suarez, who had spun out. Zilisch managed to complete 49 of the scheduled 95 laps, ultimately finishing in 37th position.
Looking ahead, Zilisch is set to participate in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. This race is known as NASCAR’s longest event and Zilisch will be driving the No. 87 Chevrolet, once again supported by Red Bull.
“It’s awesome to have the opportunity to race in one of NASCAR’s coolest events,” Zilisch remarked in a team announcement. “The Charlotte 600 is one of the most prestigious races in NASCAR. It’s going to be a physical and mental challenge because that race is so tough. I’m very appreciative for (Trackhouse owner and founder) Justin (Marks) and everyone at Red Bull for their support and turning this opportunity into a reality.”
In addition to his Cup Series debut, Zilisch is actively competing full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports. He made an impressive entrance last year with a victory at Watkins Glen and has already secured a spot in the 2025 playoffs after clinching a win at COTA. Recently, he achieved his first pole position on an oval track at Martinsville Speedway.
Red Bull, the official energy drink sponsor of Trackhouse Racing, has also supported Shane van Gisbergen in select races. Red Bull branding will appear on SVG’s car during several upcoming events, including races at Sonoma Raceway, Iowa Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, and Kansas Speedway.
