Setbacks for Son of Sardaar 2 Amidst Controversies
Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, Son of Sardaar 2, is experiencing significant challenges ahead of its premiere. Set against the backdrop of the UK, the production has recently attracted attention for two troubling developments: the rejection of Sanjay Dutt’s visa and the dismissal of Vijay Raaz from the cast due to alleged misconduct.
Sanjay Dutt’s Visa Issues:
In a recent turn of events, Sanjay Dutt, who played a pivotal role in the first installment of the franchise, faced a visa denial for the UK, marking a severe setback for the film. This rejection is linked to Dutt’s historical legal issues, including a conviction in 1993 under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) and the Arms Act. Although he had initially been granted a visa, UK authorities later retracted it following scrutiny of his prior criminal record.
Expressing his discontent, Dutt remarked in an interview with Bombay Times, “They granted me the visa initially, and everything was set to go. Then a month later, they revoked it! I provided all the documentation, so why the change?”
With Dutt absent from the production, actor Ravi Kishan has been brought on board to fill his role. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the sequel aims to extend the narrative established in the prior film, albeit with some changes in the cast, including the omission of Sonakshi Sinha.
Vijay Raaz’s Dismissal:
Compounding the film’s troubles, actor Vijay Raaz was allegedly removed from the project due to claims of unprofessional behavior. Kumar Mangat Pathak, the film’s co-producer, disclosed that Raaz made unreasonable requests during filming, which included demands for larger accommodations, a luxury vanity van, and excessive remuneration for his assistant. The escalating tensions reportedly culminated in his dismissal from the project.
“Sanjay Mishra will now take over his role,” Pathak confirmed. Additionally, he noted that Raaz’s assistant was implicated in a serious incident involving the alleged sexual assault of a hotel staffer while under the influence of alcohol.
In response to the situation, Raaz has dismissed the allegations as unfounded and asserted that the two incidents were not related. He further claimed that his removal was more about a personal dispute with Ajay Devgn rather than any professional misconduct.
Despite the controversies surrounding Son of Sardaar 2, the production team is working diligently to keep the film on schedule and make necessary adjustments amidst these challenges.
