Corbin Bleu and Stephanie Styles to Star in Exclusive Reading of Upcoming Musical ‘Get Happy’

Corbin Bleu and Stephanie Styles are set to take center stage in a private industry reading of the new musical comedy, Get Happy. This exclusive event is scheduled for January 17 in New York City and will be invitation-only.

Get Happy, which debuted earlier this year under the title Summer Stock at Connecticut’s prestigious Goodspeed Musicals, showcases a book and additional lyrics by Cheri Steinkellner, a four-time Emmy Award winner. The musical supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations are by Doug Besterman, a three-time Tony Award winner. The reading will be directed and choreographed by Donna Feore, who is making her much-anticipated New York City debut following a successful tenure at Canada’s Stratford Festival. Read the reviews for the Goodspeed production here.

The production is backed by producers Steve Peters and Michael Londra of VenuWorks Theatricals, along with Greg and Marissa Frankenfield from Excelsior Entertainment. Executive producers Carolyn Rossi Copeland and Nancy Nagel Gibbs round out the team. The musical is being produced in special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.

In this reading, Bleu and Styles will reprise their chemistry from the 2019 Broadway revival of Kiss Me, Kate as they portray the characters Joe Ross and Jane Falbury, roles that were famously brought to life by Gene Kelly and Judy Garland in the iconic film. The reading will also feature a talented cast including Stephen Lee Anderson as Lt. Henry ‘Pop’ Falbury, Gilbert L. Bailey II as Phil Filmore, and Veanne Cox as Margaret Wingate. Other notable cast members include Zoe Jensen, Will Roland, and Douglas Sills, along with Nicholas Cunha, Francesca Mancuso, Corinne Munsch, Kaylee Olson, Aaron Patterson, Jack Sippel, and Cayel Tregeagle.

The storyline follows a group of Broadway performers who find themselves without a rehearsal space and must relocate to a family farm in Connecticut, reinforcing the showbiz adage that the show must go on. In true musical fashion, the narrative unfolds with unexpected romances, beloved tunes from the American songbook, impressive choreography, and the stakes of saving both a farm and a musical.
