Corey LaJoie Unveils 2025 Plans with Rick Ware Racing

Corey LaJoie has finally shared his racing plans for 2025, confirming his participation in a partial season with Rick Ware Racing as he aims to compete in the iconic Daytona 500 next month. This announcement has been anticipated for some time and places LaJoie among a notable group of contenders entering the 67th iteration of this prestigious event.

Having raced at Daytona eight consecutive times, LaJoie is no stranger to this challenging track, boasting a fourth-place finish in the previous year’s race. However, this upcoming event will represent a significant shift for the 33-year-old driver; it will be the first occasion since 2018 that he won’t be on a full-time schedule in the NASCAR Cup Series.

LaJoie will take the wheel of the No. 01 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing in his ninth attempt at the Daytona 500. Notably, the No. 01 has not been utilized in the Cup Series for nearly 17 years, making this a unique moment in both LaJoie’s career and NASCAR history. The team has secured sponsorship from DuraMAX and Take 5 Oil Change to support their efforts.

In addition to his racing commitments, LaJoie has announced that he will join the commentary team for Amazon Prime Video’s broadcast of five NASCAR Cup races, taking on the role of studio analyst for both pre and post-race coverage. This opportunity adds another layer to his career; LaJoie also hosts his podcast, Stacking Pennies, which reflects his determination to convert small achievements into larger successes—a philosophy that aligns closely with his journey in motorsport.

LaJoie represents the next generation of racers who have navigated through various lower-tier teams, amassing a total of 272 Cup races since 2014. His brief chance to drive for Hendrick Motorsports in 2023, substituting for Chase Elliott, was a pivotal moment, but it did not yield the breakthrough he had hoped for, as Carson Hocevar garnered significant attention during the race. Last season, LaJoie drove for Spire Motorsports but transitioned to Rick Ware Racing midseason, swapping positions with Justin Haley.

Although the previous year proved to be challenging—marked by struggles to keep pace with his teammates and two notable car flips—LaJoie looks ahead to 2025 as a fresh start. His aspiration is to accumulate more victories, both in terms of on-track performances and personal growth.
