Cristin Milioti Returns to the USS Callister in Black Mirror Season 7
Cristin Milioti is set to reprise her role in the acclaimed episode “USS Callister” as part of the new season of Black Mirror. The upcoming finale, titled “USS Callister: Into Infinity,” marks her return after an eight-year hiatus. Since her last appearance in Season 4, Milioti’s career has soared, particularly with her notable performances as Sofia Falcone in The Penguin and in the indie hit Palm Springs. Additionally, she starred in the two-season series Made for Love, an HBO production that delves into themes very much in line with Black Mirror, featuring a tech billionaire who exerts manipulative control over her character, a role exhibited by the talented Billy Magnussen, who also appears in the latest Black Mirror installment.
In a recent press roundtable for Black Mirror, Milioti shared her feelings regarding the cancellation of Made for Love, expressing a sense of loss tied to both the show and its message. “I have a lot of heartbreak over that series,” she revealed. “It feels locked away right now, similar to what happened with Westworld when it was removed from Max. It’s disappointing because we invested three years into creating something meaningful.”
She further elaborated on the relevance of the themes explored in Made for Love, particularly in today’s technology-driven society, stating, “With so many influential tech figures today, including Elon Musk, the issues we tackled resonate more than ever. I find myself wishing, ‘Why isn’t this show out in the world where more people can see it?’” Milioti expressed her desire for the show to see the light of day again, noting, “It’s not lost forever; it’s just trapped somewhere, likely on a drive. It needs to be accessible.”
Collaboration with Billy Magnussen in Made for Love and Black Mirror
Milioti spoke fondly of her collaboration with Billy Magnussen across both series. “I’ve known Billy for ages, since we met on an indie project when we were both very young,” she reminisced. “Although my role in that film got cut down significantly, Billy shone through it. He’s immensely talented, and working alongside him has always been enjoyable.”
Reflecting on the significance of Made for Love, she noted, “The show shed light on technological impact, and the relationship dynamics explored were poignant. Alongside the brilliant cast and exceptional writing team, it deserved more recognition and a platform.”
Made for Love is currently not available to watch through legal channels. It is crucial for those in power to reconsider this situation and allow it to reach audiences once again.
